Child In Fear Of Frog/nice ~1914 Bronze Clad Armor Bronze Antique Bookends For Sale
Up for purchase is a rare set of polychrome bronze-clad bookends that depict a child climbing up a rock to get away from a frog. They were manufactured circa 1914 by the Armor Bronze Company with their mark on the sides and their sticker tag on the bottoms. The name of the sculptor, S. Morani, appears on the rear base. The base measures 4.25-inches both ways at the widest points and it stands 7.5-inches in height. One bookend weighs 49.7 ounces and the other one weighs 48.7 ounces. See photos for more details.
These bookends are in excellent condition. There are no cracks or missing chips in the metal surfaces. I find only one very small bump--too a hair lock on the child's head--and a small casting hole along the rear edge (seen below in 4th from last photo). There is only a scant bit of rubbing to the paint on some of the high areas. The presence of tags on the bottom is also an indicator of little wear. An exceptionally nice set!
