We are pleased to offer this important, custom made late 19th century Chinese cloisonne Imperial dragon humidor.
It is one of a kind.
Special order for the owner as it features his initials "RED" enamelled into the cover design. This of course would have had to have been done at the very time of manufacture.
Classic rectangular design gently curved at corners.
The cover with pair of beautifully enamelled five claw Imperal dragons. Battling over the sacred pearl, here if fiery orb form. A dozen of more vibrant colors including lapis blue, Ming yellow, burnt orange, sky blue and more.
The front and rear panel with similar battling dragon scene. However here the dragons fighting above rolling waves. All set against rich rolling cloud deep green background.
Interior with the original wood panels in fine state.
The owner of the box had it commissioned by the Chinese work shop, with his initials RED enamelled to centre.
The Chinese battling dragon humidor is 9 3/4 inches by 5 3/4 inches. Extremely heavy in hand.
In excellent condition. Cover closes flush. The beautiful enamelled dragon scenes retain their original rich vibrant colors. No loss to enamel work, and very little of the usual pitting. Interior wood lining in fine state.

Nor change of taste, or because a buyer did not realize how "small" four inches might be once in hand.
