Chinese Export Silver Battling Dragons Centre Bowl C1875 Excellent For SaleFINEST c1875 CHINESE EXPORT SILVER DRAGON BATTLING DRAGON CENTRE BOWL; DRAGONS SET AMIDST STREAMING FIRE & CLOUDS ON SATIN BACKGROUND; EXCELLENT CONDITION
This is a beautifully crafted c1875 Chinese export silver battling dragon centre bowl.
Signed. The maker's marks rubbed.
Part of our near forty year collection of export silver, numbering 300 pieces.
Trade silver prices have exploded in the past year. As evidenced by Skinners Boston sales in Fall 2010. There a pair of 4 1/4 inches vases for $2000.
Shortly thereafter, a common, damaged 20 ounce CES tea set sell for $6800 USD at Halls Gallery in the UK. A slightly larger, damaged, mismatched maker set sold at Christie's London this winter for $7200.
We are advising clients to acquire examples such as this. Rather than waste thousands of dollars on common tea sets and bowls, with no investment potential whatever.
In classic tapering circular form.
Adorned with brilliantly hand chased battling dragons and sacred pearl. Set amidst streaming fire and rolling clouds.
Massive head, saucer shaped eyes ablaze, razor tip fangs and long tendrils flaring.
The sacred pearl in fire lotus form. The most prized of all pearl renditions. Streams of fire emanating from all sides.
A third dragon on opposite side with head turned back. Perhaps thinking about joining the battle.
Rich stippled background, like satin.
The centre bowl displays the finest hand chased finish detail. Clearly the work of an export period master chaser.
This c1875 Chinese export silver battling dragon centre bowl is 7 3/8 inches.
Thick, heavy guage solid silver it weighs 17 (standard) ounces.
The hallmarks are rubbed, as shown.
Excellent condition. Lustreous silver patina throughout. Beautifully chased dragon decoration retains its original crisp, hand chased detail.
For the discerning collector of the finest China trade silver. An extremely fine c1875 China trade silver battling dragon centre bowl. Excellent condition.

We make great effort to accurately describe each item listed. Returns are accepted, if either condition, country of origin or dating is significantly incorrect. In such cases we refund your shipping costs as well. Like you, we are only human, and make mistakes. Hopefully, not too many.
Remember, the items you see are antiques. Hence, have an expected amount of wear from normal use. As such, returning an item because we failed to mention the tiniest bit of wear, or barely discernible flaw is not acceptable. Nor do we accept returns based on buyer's remorse.
