Chinese Export Silver Chrysanthemum Hammered Surface Bowl Wh 90 Exc For Sale
FINEST c1885 CHINESE EXPORT SILVER ROYAL CHRYSANTHEMUM ON HAMMERED SURFACE CENTRE BOWL; WANG HING, CANTON; EXCELLENT CONDITION
We are pleased to offer this excetional 1885 Chinese export silver floral on hammered ground centre bowl.
< Signed for Wang Hing, Canton.
From our thirty five year collection. Most of which we acquired in the late 1970s and 1980s.
Trade silver prices have exploded in the past year. As evidenced by Skinners Boston sales in Fall 2010. There a pair of 4 1/4 inches vases for $2000. Later in 2011 a common, damaged 20 ounce CES tea set sold for $6800 USD at Halls Gallery in the UK. A slightly larger, damaged, mismatched set sold at Christie's London this past winter for $7200.
As trade silver prices soar, we have been unwilling to sell the best pieces of our personal collection.
Until this past fall. When a tiny, twenty one ounce CES tea service, with damaged enamel work sold for 35,000 GBP plus premium ($70,000 USD) at Bonhams UK.
In classic raised circular form.
Adorned with a series of meticulously hand carved royal chrysanthemum sprays.
Large flowers carved in exceptional relief. In some places a half inch or so from the surface.
Throughout the bowl displays the finest finish detail. Clearly the work of one of Wang Hing's master chasers.
All set aginst rich hand hammered surface. The thousands of individual hamer punch marks shimmer in the natural light.
This fine c1885 Chinese export silver centre bowl is 8 1/4 inches.
Thick, heavy guage solid silver 21 1/2 (standard) ounces.
Hallmarked as shown.
In excellent condition. Rich, lustreous silver patina throughout. The beautiful hand carved floral sprays retain their original crisp, vibrant detail.
For the discerning collector of the finest China trade silver. An exceptional c1885 Chinese export silver royal chrysanthemum on hammered surface centre bowl. From Wang Hing.
Please feel free to inquire directly about this, or any item we've listed. Whether the item is alone or part of a set. We very much welcome your interest. We are collectors first. As such, we are quite easy to work with.
We happily combine items when shipping, saving you costs. We ship twice weekly, usually US Postal Priority. Fully insured for domestic packages, and air parcel overseas. We charge a bit more than actual cost for custom size boxes, shipping materials and to pay for professional packing.
We make great effort to accurately describe each item listed. Returns are accepted, if either condition, country of origin or dating is significantly incorrect. In such cases we refund your shipping costs as well. Like you, we are only human, and make mistakes. Hopefully, not too many.
Remember, the items you see are antiques. Hence, have an expected amount of wear from normal use. As such, returning an item because we failed to mention the tiniest bit of wear, or barely discernible flaw is not acceptable. Nor do we accept returns based on buyer's remorse. Nor change of taste, or because a buyer did not realize how "small" four inches might be once in hand.
