This is one of a kind pair of c1840 Chinese export silver entree dishes.

Our entree dishes were featured on Professor Adrien von Ferscht\'s Chinese silver web site this past week, March 15, 2014.

A single identical entree is in Forbes collection. Illustrated on page 217 of his text.

Today, we offer the matching set.

From one of the most important Canton silversmiths of all time Cutshing.

Bearing his early \"CU/k\" mark. Mark was used from only 1850 to 1860 (See Forbes).

Classic rectangular design gently curved at corner.

The base with boldly fashioned pierced shell and leaf handles. The centre with large rippling surface scallop shell. Banded at base to a smaller one. Framed in sweeping vine with ruffled leaf terminal. United by thin petal gadroon trim. Just as found on the original c1820 George III English design.

Thick well cast domed centre covers. Perfect fit to base. Topped with beautifully cast globe and leaf cap, twin vine finials. Rising from petal frame base. Attach with twist and lock, or bayonet mechanism. Identical to George III entrees.

Period engraved Gothic \"B\".

The entree dishes 14 1/2 inches by 9 inches & 6 1/2 inches tall.

Exceptionally thick, heavy guage solid silver set weighs 171 (standard) ounces.

Hallmarked as shown. The identical \"CU/k\" and pseudo marks marks illustrated in Forbes page 244.

The marks on both entrees extremely crisp and well struck.

In excellent condition. Rich, lustreous silver patina throughout. The beautiful shell and scroll detail and pierced shell and leaf handles retain their original crisp, vibrant detail. Covers close flush to base. Few tiny scattered bumps, mostly to corner of covers. Interior centre one with some fine lines. The base of one with old patch appox. 1 1/4 by 1/2 inch as shown last image.
