A very fine and rare c1845 Chinese export silver Morse family,
lion handle tea caddy
or tea box.
Signed W for the Canton work shop of Wong Shing, and
pseudo British Georgian hallmarks (page 254 in Dr Crosby's text).
First listed at 15 Old China St. around 1830......
Also Morse family crest - two battle axes banded with chaplet of roses above
motto - translated I trust in God not cauldron form banded shoulder and finger petal fluting and petal gadroon rim.
Cast satin chased lion mask drop ring handles.
