Probably from Pennsylvania, and up for sale without reserve is a double compartment,Chip-Carved Hanging PA Salt Box. Made of pine and fastened with square nails, it dates from the last quarter of the 19th century. It has a wonderful scalloped back panel, and a decorative chip-carved front. Centered on the back panel is a nicely carved flower. It has two interior compartments divided by a pine board and there is a separate original lid. The lid still fits nicely and has centered wooden mushroom knob for opening and closing. There is an age appropriate surface, no cracks or repairs and most of the scratches and minor flaws are on the bottom. Beautifully constructed with very solid 7/16\" panels - it measures: 13-3/4\" high x 8-3/8\" wide x 4-7/16\" deep. Please view all photos and ask any questions before offerding.
