Chris Ware - 33 Different Acme Novelty Library Newspaper Strips RARE:
$109.19
A few months ago, I received a collection of Chris Ware books, and as a bonus, I received a large amount of newspaper strips. Sadly, after much thought, I am selling them. I simply feel that there are collectors that will be able to maintain these in the manner they deserve. On average, these strips are about 15 years old.
Overwhelmingly, the collection has strips featuring Jimmy Corrigan, but the collection also has: Tales of Tomorrow, Big Tex, Potato Guy, and Rocket Sam. What I have decided to do it break down the collection in lots that will attempt to collect the respective feature.
You are offerding on a lot of NewCity newspaper strips featuring work by Chris Ware. All these newspaper strips came from the NewCity paper, and published in Chicago. These strips appeared in the paper from the mid- to late-1990’s.
All of these are in very good condition, but all the pages have light tanning and is more evident at the edges, as a result of the prior owner’s method of storage. The prior owner maintained all the pages in a stack. Luckily, due to the way they were printed, none of them have been folded, and therefore do not have any creases. The colors are still vivid.
The overall size of each page is roughly 9 inches wide and 15 inches high, but some are smaller. No page is exactly the same size, as it appears the prior owner cut them down.
The art is roughly 8 inches wide by 14 inches high, with some variations due to the publisher and the strip being featured.
Some of the strips have never been reprinted, and I have tried my best to denote which ones have not been, to the best of my knowledge.
Since I wish a collector purchases this lot, in an attempt to preserve the prints, I have placed each print in an 11 x 17 mylar, that is 2 mil.
This lot consists of the following strips (the dates are real and I made-up many of the titles, as there often are none), including the date they appeared in the NewCity paper:
