Circa 1850-75 Early & Fine Antique Persian Tribal Shahsavan Sumak Bag Face. Wow For Sale

EARLY ANTIQUESHAHSAVAN TRIBALSADDLEBAG FACING, NW Persian tribal,circa: mid to 3rdquarter of the 19th, and coming infairly goodoverall conditionfor the collector. The exact size is:1'-7" x 1'-10" (48 x 56cm).All wool in construction with 100% natural, plant-derived, dyes, this very old Shahsavan specimen displays an allover"honey-comb" field grid design. This early specimen is finely woven in a sumak stitch technique. Thereis some abrasion to the surface on the front. The top and bottom endings are complete and sewn secure to prevent any future loss of structure. Theoriginal side cords were removed in the past and re-wrapped. Some of this over-casting has separated from the side and needs to be sewn secure again in places(see photo 7). ADDENDUM: Although it is a much later example from the early 20th century, I found one other similar designed antique Shahsavan sumak weaving published in the antique rug book literature displaying this "honey-comb" field design. It was attributed to the Khamseh Shahsavan living in the area of Bijar. Refer to: Parviz Tanavoli, "Shahsavan", 1985, plate 164.
