Avery nice Civil War Confederate Bond Interest receipt.This is a original $30.00 receipt from a $1000.00 bond. Never cashed in. No two receipts are the same. each has a diff. Number & date.These receipts are in almost unused condition.Some are not cut perfectly square &some have creases from when they were printed, or a light fold.. When a person bought a bond to support the war effert, They would get this large bond with the Interest bearingreceipts attached to the bottom or side.Every six months a receipt would be removed from the bond & redeemed for the amount specified. Approx. size: the large are approx. 3" long. This hasthe signature of Robert Tyler, the son of the 10th President of the U.S.A. John Tyler. The $30.00 receipt signatures are facilimies. He signed the prototypes, then Archer printing of Richmond, Va. Printed them with his signature already on it. They made so many he could never sign them all singlely. The others were signed by many employees of the treasury. I've sold many of these to Universities & Museums. These were never turned in.
