Civil War November 8, 1863 Letter/Cover addressed to J(oseph) M. Maitland, Co(mpany) "G", 95th Reg(imen)t O(hio) V(olunteer) 1st Brig(ade) 3rd Div(ision) 115th A(rmy) C(orps) Vicksburg, Miss(issippi). Letter is from John S. Petty of the 120th OHIO writing from New Orleans LA! Letter mentions, "I have been chased out of bed by swarms of the biggest, blackest, meanest, blood-thirstish, most musical & "cousinly" mosquitoes that, it was ever my misfortune to "skirmish with" And Oh! how I did fight and scratch for eagerness "Chickamauga" itself....steamers & Generals....Brownsville Texas has been taken by our troops....and much, much more! Worthy of more research!
