Dayton, to his wife,Catherine Dayton.He is relaying to her his physical condition and personal feelings and requesting that she send him some money to him at hisold address at his Company & Regiment. Thesingle page letter measures 4-5/8" x 7-1/2", is in the original envelope and is infolded condition and has separated at one of the folds. The second piece is a copy of an Adams Express Co. receipt for the transfer of $200.00 from A..H. Dayton in Fort Monroe, Va. to C.Dayton in Geneseo, N.Y. Thethird piece is a copy of a West Un. telegram dated March 9, 186(?) advising C. Dayton that her husband A,H, Dayton is very sick and is in the St. Mary's Hospital. It measures 4-1/2" x 8-1/2". Thefourthis anotherpersonal letter dated Nov. 19,1864 from same A.H. Daytonto his wife,C. Dayton. He is relaying to her his poor physical condition and personal feelings and requesting that she send him some money at his new address which was Mount Pleasant Hospital in Washington, D.C.. Thedouble page letter measures 4-5/8" x 7-1/2", is in the original envelope and is in good, folded condition . The fifth piece is an official letter from the U.S. Sanitary Commission in Washington, D.C. responding to her (C. Dayton's)inquiry regardinga claim on behalf of her husband A.H. Dayton and referring her to specific people in the government whom will be able to answer her questions.
