Beautiful ivy and berries scrolling on this authentic Civil War era ring. These were known as cigar band rings and this one was most likely a man\'s wedding ring. The Victorians loved their symbolism and ivy was a symbol of fidelity and marriage.This man\'s size 10 ring is solid rose gold. If you\'re not familiar with rose gold, it means there\'s a bit more copper added to the gold mix to give it an attractive rosy look. The ring tests as 14 karat gold and weighs 4.3 grams. The scrolling on this ring is more elaborate than that onmost cigar band rings of this era. There is a small ding or dent at the bottom of one side only, but it does not affect how the ring looks when it\'s being worn. The ding does not show at all from the outside. The gold is not worn thin which is unusual for such an old ring. While this is a bonus for the purchaser, it\'s actually a little depressing, too. It may well be that its original owner didn\'t live long enough due to the Civil War to wear it down. I also suspect the small dent may have come from someone wearing the ring around their neck on a chain.
