Civil War Era Abraham Lincoln Cdv Photo In Antique Black Velvet Mourning Frame:
Here we offer a Civil War-era CDV photograph of President Abraham Lincoln, framed under glass in a very rare 19th Century mourning frame of black velvet and silver-plate. The CDV is remarkable, as it is a rather scarce full-fronted view of the president, not bleached (faded out) until we can see the watch-chain below his breast.
Chipboard rear panel is scuffed with age; silver plate is speckled around the oval piece. The CDV has a very mild crease above Lincoln's head, which I think you will be able to observe if you examine the last photo carefully. (Please don't ask me to remove the CDV--it is slid up into a small slot in the chipboard that seems quite secure, but I do not want to try to dig it out, nonetheless.) Measures approximately 4.5 x 3.25-inches.
This attractive relic of the Civil War era will make a remarkable addition to your collection or a very thoughtful gift for an enthusiast.**
