Civil War Era Turkey Red "Love in a Mist" Antique Star Quilt w/Cotton Seeds
The stitches in this quilt-patch rare,
Were patiently made with loving care;
If each thought put forth were as perfect and true,
It would make a grand world for me and you.

Very, very nice quilt made around the Civil War Era. I wasn't able to locate this exact quilt pattern in any of my reference book but with many quilts made back then, women made up their own. This star pattern most resembles the "Love in a Mist" pattern. It's made from 100% cotton in true turkey red & light off-white (nearly The quilt measures 87" x 71" & is in very good condition. There are no rips, tears or holes, the binding has not frayed. The quilt has never been laundered yet it still looks great. You'll find2 light surface stains which I've pictured for you (picture #9). It has a thin batting with cotton seeds present. The red is as true in color today as it was when it was made over 150 years ago. The quilt has an overall unique design ~ 3 borders & 3 matching sashings, framing each star. These are all quilted with an interwoven circle design. The patterned blocks are quilted with diagonal & straight lines through & across, all with nice even 7 spi. Please note that in my main picture it looks like the vertical sashing in the center is crooked. It's not; it's straight. That happenedfrom me stepping on the quilt while taking pictures.
Please take a look at the other quilts that I have listed. I'm happy to combine shipping costs for you.

About Me: It all started when I was a little girl.... Gramma gave Mom a piece of Flow Blue that had been passed down in our family, then she would pass it on to me. Gramma knitted, crocheted, & quilted but being a "lefty", I could never get the hang of knitting or crocheting so I learned to quilt & applique. My love of quilts & antiques comes honestly I guess. I am a "collectaholic" so I've had to set new rules for myself... "If I buy one more quilt, one has to be sold". There's just not enough room anymore! Several years ago I decided to leave a 25 year career in Human Resources Management & do something for myself... spend more time with family & friends, garden when this Ohio weather allows, & hunt for quilts, vintage clothing & hats, & other antiques.
