This fine period document, written immediately following the end of the Civil War from the :\"Headquarters Military Division of the Tennessee, Nashville, Tenn., Dec 23rd, 1865, orders General Ruger to submit his military record during that conflict.
This document reads, in part:\"...By direction of General Thomas I have the honor to respectfully request that you will forward...a complete summary of your military history from the breaking out of the Rebellion up to the present time. This is desirable in order that it may be forwarded ...for your appointment or promotion in the Army of the US upon its reorganization...\"Ruger had served with distinction during the Civil War, and here, and at the time this was written, was helping to keep order in the newly occupied South.
This important circular was Ruger\'s personal copy of this ordder, and was found by me among a group of Ruger\'s private papers. Please do not hesitate to ask any reasonable questions regarding this item. We guarantee this piece to be as described for the life of the original purchaser.
