Civil War soldier letter, John A. Stafford, 10th VT Volunteers, Headquarters of 10th Vt. Vols, POW at Monocacy, MD, Camp near Warrington VA, July 29, 1863, 2 pages in pencil on patiotic stationery (red and blue edges), you don't see many letters where the soldier affixed the stamp to the actual letter, folded, and mailed, partial CDS Washington, DC, ties US #65, to his parents, we dont get mail regular, first one I have got in a month, supposes there is some of them lost, went to 6th corps, saw Burt, Philan, Albert Pike, Burt is not well, has dysentery, have done some march, I stood it first rate, when nine months are up, many men probably will reenlist, send me a sheet of paper and envelope. Heavier folds from mailing.
