This is an original document of military service for Private W. J. Sullivan who was in the 3rd Virginia Infantry.The military record was awarded by the Pickett-Buchanan Camp of Confederate Veterans in Norfolk, Virginia.
According to the record Sullivan participated in the following battles and engagements: Wynn's Mill, Williamsburg, Seven Pines, Mechanicsville, Games (H?)ill where he was wounded in the right leg, Second Manasas where he was severely wounded and captured near Suffolk.
On the 24th December 1889 was awarded a member of the Pickett-Buchanan Camp by commander J. M. (L?)uis, T.B. Jackson adjutant and Lieutenant Colonel of the 3rd Virginia Infantry.
