Civil War Field Artillery Relic from a private collection~ Iron Artillery Tar Bucket ~Has evidence of tar drippings on surfaces. Hung under the cannons carriage, held a combined mixture of tar and grease used to lubricate the axels. Some dings from use (photos), pitting on some surfaces as expected. All complete and in working order, no holes and would still hold lubricant. Diameter 7 inches, height 8 inches, lid 4 1/4 inches and combined height from bottom of bucketto top of chain ring 14 3/4 inches. Weight approx. 9 pounds. Please view all 12 photos before offerding.

Question: Is it the original manufacturers finish?
Answer: No, some of the original may remain but it has been hit with the paint brush more then once. These served a purpose, no one cared what they looked like.
They were only painted to prevent rust out.
