This is a rare original Screen used prop 1896 Broomhandle Mauser pistol actually used by Clint Eastwood and other actors, including Don Stroud, in the 1972 classic western, JOE KIDD. This is a true HOLY GRAIL item for Clint Eastwood fans! It is one of a kind. We were told that it was also probably used in other film productions as well. This is a completely NON-FIRING prop. We have owned this rare prop since the early 1990s, and have now decided to sell it to another collector. We have preserved the prop gun in a large custom display case since that time. It comes fully authenticated, with a certificate of authenticity from Star Wares and were originally told that it had originated from a crew member. We are selling the prop by itself without the framed display pictured (in order to save on shipping costs). However, if the winning buyer desires the large custom framed display to be included, we can also include it with the prop for additional costs. It is impossible to find original vintage Clint Eastwood props like this one, especially any of his screen used prop guns, which can command tens of thousands of dollars each in large sales. We had this prop gun appraised almost ten years ago by various sale companies including Profiles in history who were greatly interested. We were given an appraised value around $4,000-6,000 for the prop gun at that time. Since then, prices for major props, especially Eastwood props, have skyrocketed. The value of this prop pistol may easily be closer to $8-10K in today’s market. There are simply NO major props from his westerns that EVER come available for sale in sale or elsewhere. A few of his prop guns, such as his pistols from Outlaw Josey Wales have sold for $20K+ in the past. Eastwood’s poncho from a Fistful of Dollars is housed in a museum in California, where it is insured for over $1 million dollars. This screen used prop mauser is one of the most memorable guns he ever used on screen, with massive amounts of published pictures and even poster art (in which the gun is prominently featured). This rare original prop is heavy, fully detailed, and constructed of high quality, metal parts, and features a solid wood stock that is attached to the pistol grip. There is a gun sight on top that actually functions with sliding measurements (as seen on screen), as well as a functioning trigger, other moving parts, etc. This prop would have been used in many scenes, stunt sequences, and most of the actions scenes of the film where a live fire version would have been too dangerous. Live fire weapons are actually used very little on screen (only 5-10% of the time in a typical film production due to liability). In the film, Joe Kidd, this pistol belongs to a ruthless bounty hunter played by Don Stroud until Eastwood steals and uses it throughout most of the film, fighting the bounty hunters, led by actor, Robert Duvall. This is a VERY iconic prop, and one of the only authentic Eastwood prop pistols to ever be offered for sale.
