This is a beautiful example of Akasuke Base-Tallie Cloisonné. The hammered pattern design of bamboo and birds on the metal underneath the red pigeon blood enamel and clear glaze shows through without the obstruction of the enameled flowers painted on so many other pieces of cloisonné. It is in perfect condition and measures 7 1/4\" high with the silver rims top and bottom that cloisonné is noted for. This is an unmarked piece but undeniably pigeon blood cloisonné.
