This was the government's response to strike actions by the postal workers which had been disrupting delivery of the mail for some time.
During this 30 day "monopoly free" period which started on the 6th August 1996, private carriers were given the right to deliver letters which had previously been the exclusive province of the Post Office.
Coincraft set up its own private delivery post and issued its own stamps to be used for this purpose. Because COINCRAFT is a coin company, the stamps they issued naturally had coins as their main illustration.
One was a group of 6 stamps with illustrations of coins issued to commemorate the Wedding of Charles & Diana.
The values ranged from 1 Pence through to £5.
Here we have a "Certificate of Authenticity" from COINCRAFT with all six stampswith images of Diana & Charlesthat they issued during the strike. The stamps are unused. The Certificate is signed by Richard Lobel, Director of Coincraft, London, England
