Up for offer: Aclassic, vintage Colnago bicycle frame. Super model in the very desirableSaronni red color, appearing to be from around 1980. USED in Very Good condition, with typicalpaint chips and some rust on the chrome.The decals have some chips, rubs, and scratches - common for the fragileColnago decals from that era. The“chrome” on the right chainstay is a decal, as was normal back then. I have not built-up this bike, but all looksgood. The headset is Cycle Pro and willbe included – all bearing races look fine, but the bearings should beregreased. Weight with headset: 2.76 kg (6.1 lb).

Serial Number: Theonly identification numbers I found are on the fork steerer tube and thederailleur dropout – both arestamped 136. The steerer tube is alsostamped with the Columbus logo (bird).

Rear Hub Spacing: 126mm

Front Hub Spacing: 100mm

Bottom Bracket: 36x 24F Italian threads, 70 mm shell width

Headset Threads: 25.4x 24F Italian thread

Seatpost Diameter: 27.2mm (a tight fit, though)

Brake Calipers: 47 mm short reach calipers (43– 51 mm); recessed mount. Normal reach52 mm will work, too.

Front Derailleur: ClampOn

Shifters: Braze On. Note: Itried to put on some Campy shifters and found a difficult fit. The braze-ons may need some “judicious” finetuning.

Rear Dropouts: StampedColnago. The derailleur dropout is alsostamped 136

I have a Super bicycle in my personal collection with aframe exactly like this one. It wasobtained with the original high-end components, including Campy Super Record,from the era. It has Super Recordtitanium bottom bracket and pedals. It weighs 20.3 lb and I love the way itrides and handles. In my opinion, it’s one of, if not the best, I’ve riddenfrom that era. (Of course, I haven’t ridden them all and I’m no expert.)

The Colnago Super is inarguably one of the best handling andmost desirable steel framed bikes from the early ‘80’s. This particular exampleresembles the look of the Italian \"Gis Gelati\" and \"DelTongo\" team bikes. These teams were very strong contenders in Italianracing of the late 1970\'s and early 1980\'s, with Giuseppe Saronni winning theGiro d\'Italia in 1979 and 1983. The color you can see on the bike is oftenreferred to as \"Saronni red\" (probably because he won the 1982 World Championshiptitle in Goodwood England on a Colnago of this color) which made the bike, andthe man, quite famous. (see the last photo.)This color, along with the white panels, are considered by many to bethe ultimate race bike statement of this era.
