18th Century Clay Tavern Pipe

This pipe, made from clay by the Williamsburg Pottery, Lightfoot, Virginia, is typical of those used extensively during colonial times.

An experienced archaeologist needs only fragments -- and countless thousands have been unearthed in the restoration of Williamsburg -- to date clay pipes by shape and size.

This \"Tavern Pipe\" is a mid eighteenth-century model.

17\" long! Every tavern had pipes for the patrons. The end would be broken off for sanitary reasons until the pipe needed to be replaced.

Brand new, still in the box!
