His plan to drain the Comstock Lode took almost two decades to complete. By then, mining on the Comstock was decreasing in profitability. Sutro sold his interests in 1880. The company was sold in foreclosure in 1889, and the Comstock Tunnel Company was formed. His brother, Theo. took over. 13\" x 9.5\"
