Connecticut Governor William A. Buckingham 5 Letters From 1863-1869:
William A. Buckingham. 1804-1875
Mayor of Norwich, Connecticut from 1849-1850.....Governor from 1858-1866.....Senator from 1869-1875
Not really a very interesting guy other than a good friend of Lincoln's who raised some good sums of money for the abolitionists cause
(also known as the war between the states and in the south as the northern war of aggression) along with raising thousands of troops
and one of the first all negro regiments.
Two of the letters are during the war years....1863 and the other three are from 1869.
Let me know if you need additional information and I'll do my best to supply same.
All five letters are being saleed as one. I do not know why the word "Tennessee" is written on the single cut-out signature; however, the word
"Hartford" is above the name which validates the signature.
