Some more information about this Conway Stewart: 58
This VERY rare Conway Stewart is the most highly sought after of all the 1940-50s Celluloid Marble pens. The TRUE Cracked Ice version of the 58. All cracked ice 58 are rare pens in their own right however this pen is a First Issue "THE" The Conway Stewart -Underlined - No. 58 - With, Made In England, around the barrel not under Conway Stewart etc. I recently sold2 Mint perfect examples of this pen for over 500GBP to give you an example of how collectible they are. This example is not quite perfect but is still better than most you will ever see that claim to be mint.
The pen itself is Gloss Jet Black with Pearl white Opalescent semi translucent Veins running through to form a unique Marble effect. Made of Celluloid. The Clip, Rings and Lever are all Yellow Gold Plate withsome usualPatina that youwouldexpect from 65+ year old originals. The pen has no deep scratches, dents or bite marks etc. Once in the hand to the naked eye lookssuperb still.
Its perfect 14C Medium line DURO nib which also has good medium firm Flex. A true joy to write with. Very smooth and fluid with no paper scratch being medium line at normal pressure. Very user friendly. However this rare nib also has great medium firm flex that allows for line width variation from medium all the way to double broad on the down stroke when varying pressure is applied. The nib is perfect.
Comes in original box with Guarantee and filling instruction papers.
