Some more information about this Conway Stewart 58 Tiger Eye.
This VERY rare Conway Stewart is one of the most highly sought after of all the 1940-50s Celluloid Marble pens. The original Tiger Eye version of the 58. AllTiger Eye58 are rare pens in their own right however this pen is a First Issue "THE" The Conway Stewart -Underlined - No. 58 - With, Made In England, around the barrel not under Conway Stewart etc. As beautiful as this pen looks it writes even better. The 14C Medium to medium broad line DURO Nib is designed specifically for user friendly smooth writing. The tines do not move or twist and so no sprayed ink dots or paper scratch or crossed tines etc. This pen can be used by anyone regardless of experience. Similar nib to Waterman Manifold Nib. This pen is a true joy to write with because of its simple no nonsense perfect line. You can concentrate on writing rather than worry about the nib. If I had a dissertation, book or draft to write this is the pen I would grab. In short its a beautiful, reliable andloyal work horse. Never complains and will not let you down. Fully serviced this pen works like new. Nib is perfect. Feed and ink flow are perfect.
The pen itself is made of celluloid. The colours are amazing, Bronze, Golden Amber and black Basket weave or Tigers eye pattern. Simply stunning. The Clip Rings and Lever are Yellow Gold Plate. All excellent with only light patina you would expect of 65-70 year old originals. The Conway Stewart barrel imprints are deep and crisp as new. Never polished. Rare to find them so clear and readable. All in all this is a super pen fully working and highly collectable. Great example of a rare pen....
