Some more information about this ...

Made in London, England 1930s. Full senior size for the time at13.2cm or 5.2 inch capped. (Similar to the ever popular 58.)This example is probably mid to late 30s because it is made from Celluloid. They also made this exact same pen in Hard Rubber BCHR during early to mid 30s. Because Conway Stewart persisted with Caesin for its colour pens into the mid to late 30s they tended to use Hard Rubber still for their Black pens. This 475 example for sale is early Celluloid for a Conway Stewart. It has all the same Chasing as the HR examples. However these Celluloid versions are farsuperioras their Jet Black colour ispermanent and pure whereas the HR versions turn Brown with age.Celluloid when mint like this one also hasunparalleledGloss and Sheen. This example for sale will stay this exact same Black for another 80 years if looked after.Fabulous pens.
The pen has no Cracks, Splits, Repairs, Dents. Scratches or Bite Marks. The Chevron Chasing is superb still. Its rare The Conway Pen, Conway Stewart London, No. 475, Barrel Imprints are deep and easy to read. Very rare. Italsohas Made in England goingaroundthe Barrels tail. Add to those the fact they are also underlined then yourealizeits a rare set of Imprints your looking at. This pen has not been polished and handled very little in its life to be in such fine condition. A rare survivor indeed. Always looked after and never abused. The Caps End Cap is Hard Rubber as is the Section (part you hold when writing) and its Feed. The Clip and Lever are Yellow Gold plated. Also superb Rare to find such great gold work. The lever is fantastic. The Clip has the usual very light Patina one would expect of this age on its high points. Over all once in the hand to the naked eye this 70 to 80 year old looks amazing still.Remarkablereally.
Finally the most important part. The Nib. This one has a wonderful 14C M Flex Nib. Writes with a smooth medium line at normal pressure. Very user friendly. Has Fine line side stroke. However the true pleasure arrives the moment you apply the flexibility this Nib offers. Excellent line width variation abilities. Can flex from Medium to Double Broad on the Down Stroke when varying levels of pressure areapplied. Very creative nib. The Flex or Spring is also quite user friendly. It is not to soft, loose or twitchy. It will only flex oncommandof its user never by itself. Yet once commanded is willing and capable of delivering an originality of line that No MODERN pen can even dream of. This is how fountain pens should be. The opposite of a Ballpoint pen. However not all vintage Conway Nibs write this well. It is amasterpieceof its type. Mint condition Nib. Zero damage.
Comes ready to write just add your favorite colour bottled ink. The lever fill system the pen uses is Child\'s play.To fill could not be easier. Simply pull lever down 90 degree and then place nib in ink. Close the lever down flush. Wait 5 to 10 seconds. Take nib out of ink. Wipe excess. Done. Takes seconds.
