That said we have sent out photos to Art experts and they claim it is not. So what we will do here is let you be the Judge and maybe an expert on will know the answer? If you know something that could help explain what we do have here please let us know. Read the whole listing first because the photos don't show upclose and we have some history with this piece. This is in as seen in photos condition. Please you are the best judge look at our photos. Description: This is a "CURRIER & IVES "THROUGH TO THE PACIFIC" LITHOGRAPH - HAND COLORED - L@@K"and is in the condition as stated above. We try to present everything we sell on as honestly as possible. PLEASE READ ALL BEFORE offerDING OR EMAILING US ABOUT THIS - THANK YOU. EXAMINATION:Here is what we do know and we will start with the up close examination. When making an effort in determining what type of Art this is we got out our 30X magnifier. When looking at this through the magnifier the first thing we noticed is that is for sure "Not A Dot Matrix Copy". No dots appear at all leading us to believe that it must be a lithograph of some type. Now we are not experts but we have sold many "reproductions and have always represented them as such".This does not appeared to be made by any printer or photocopying equipment. The color's in this look to be done by hand again no dots. Now experts have stated this is not an original "Currier & Ives" but they can't tell who might have made this. There is no reproduction markings at all. So from an examination of the scene it looks like a real lithograph hand colored. Now one issue still unsolved is the address on the area at the bottom right of this. It shows "152 NASSAU STR. NEW YORK. Nowhere online can we find any such address on any original or reproduction? Odd but unsolved.SOME KNOWN HISTORY OF THIS "THROUGH TO THE PACIFIC" state as to be by CURRIER & IVES.On the rear of the FRAME is some interesting Stickers or Tags that help date at least the Frame. If you look close at the photos you can see that the Frame has never been opened since this "lithograph"? was framed. On the back the first of two tags or stickers "Master-Craft Art MFG. Corp NYC. with the number #144"that company no longer exist but this does gives us the location is was framed in. Now the second tag or sticker is a different story. This frame on the rear has a tag or sticker that says"NRA Code Registration Stamp 31-123"now this really helps to date this Art.The National Recovery Administration (NRA) was the primary New Deal agency established by U.S.president Franklin D. Roosevelt (FDR) in 1933. The goal was to eliminate "cut-throat competition" by bringing industry, labor and government together to create codes of "fair practices" and set prices. The NRA was created by the National Industrial Recovery Act (NIRA) and allowed industries to get together and write "codes of fair competition." The codes were intended to reduce "destructive competition" and to help workers by setting minimum wages and maximum weekly hours, as well as minimum prices at which products could be sold. The NRA also had a two year renewalcharter and was set to expire in June 1935 if not renewed. In 1935, the U.S. Supreme Court unanimously declared that the NRA law was unconstitutional, ruling that it infringed the separation of powers under the United States Constitution. So this "NRA" Code Stamp dates the framing somewhere between 1933 and 1935.That for sure makes this ART at least 77 years old. Now if it is not real I am not sure what type of reproduction methods where available 77 years ago but printers were not. This also is not a photo reproduction... This is from an Estate Sale:What we have is "Through To The Pacific" that looks to be hand colored and stated to be "Published by Currier & Ives" "152 Nassau Str. New York. The print plate area is approx 9 x 14 the frame is 17 1/4 x 13 1/2. Framed in New York between 1933 through 1935.
