The American chestnut was once one of the most important trees in the Eastern United States, occupying about 25 percent of the hardwood canopy in Eastern forests. But by the early 1930's, the tree was virtually eliminated by a fungus from Asia, called the chestnut blight. It is estimated that nearly 5 BILLION American Chestnut Trees were killed by the fungus!!
American Chestnut is no longer harvested and can only now be obtained through reclamation! Save a tree and make your next project from highly desirable, reclaimed Chestnut! You'll be glad you did!
Mounting Instructions: I have received several emails on how to mount these shelves...if only you knew how easy it is!!! I have found that the best (and easiest) way to install these shelves is using a "floating style" mount. You can see how it' s done by clicking HERE The website is for mantles but the process is the same for floating shelves.
If you don't have a brick foundation, then simply mount the lag bolts into the wall studs...3/8" lags will work fine for this application if you mount them at most 16" apart. Use 1/2" lags if the lag span is 24" or more! Make sure you have at least 4" sticking out of the wall, so purchase your lag lengths accordingly. The hardware & adhesive needed for installation is cheap and available at any hardware store. Hope this helps!!
