Daiya/cragstan Space Conqueror Astronaut Tin Litho Toy Robot 1960s Japan Batt Op For Sale
For sale is a 1960s Daiya "Space Conqueror" astronaut toy robot. I acquired this robot from an estate sale about a year ago. The "Space Conqueror" or "Astronaut" robot was made by Rosko, Cragstan, and Daiya. This particular robot is the blue Daiya version, and it is clearly marked "DAIYA MADE IN JAPAN" on the back. The condition that it's currently in is how I found it. As you can see, the litho looks good, but it's missing the antenna, and plastic piece that fits on the gun. The helmet is also a little misshapen and it is damaged. The red film on the gun is cracked (easily replaceable). As you can see from the images the body is actually pretty good, all things considering. There is a small dent on back behind the head and a few small dings on the feet, as well as some scratches, and a few TINY spots where the litho is worn. I would say about 90-95% of it's original litho is intact. It comes with it's original battery pack, although it has come detached. It attaches with some simple metal pieces, which are not broken. It could be put back on without trouble. I have no idea if it works. There is one wire coming out of the robot and one coming from the battery pack. I didn't want to risk damaging it by even attempting to connect wires (you'd have to open it to fix that). I'm saying it's "unknown" whether it operates correctly. Although it's not in perfect shape it's pretty decent, and completely suitable for a restoration job. The robot measures 10 1/2" x 4 1/2" x 4 1/2". Please check out my images to get a complete idea of condition. I've really enjoyed having this robot, but I think it should go to someone who can truly appreciate it.
