A Germanpropaganda postcard announcing the recapture of the Free City of Danzig.
The Free City of Danzig was a semi-autonomous city-state that existed between 1920 and 1939, consisting of the Baltic Sea port of Danzig (today Gdańsk) and surrounding areas whichwas created at the end of the First World War. It wascreated inorder to give Poland access to a seaport while respecting the fact that the city's population was roughly95% German. After the German invasion of Poland in 1939, the Free City was abolished and incorporated into the newly formed Reichsgau of Danzig-West Prussia. The reverse of the postcard is blank.
