Decorative cloth binding, impressive decorative cloth covers. Chips at the top spine end, some wear to the corners and edges, inner hinges loosened a bit but secure. All pages and plates accounted for, no loss. Some foxing to the fold out frontispiece and the title page, light marking to the pages.Includes fold outillustrations of; Sennacherib's palace, Egypytians moving a colossal statue from the quarry, plan of the palaces at Nimroud, map of Assyria, map of Mesopotamia, tower and temples at the mound of Nimroud.Quite an impressive looking binding, especially when the book is layed out an is in the first photo. The greater part of the Assyrian collection in the British museum was 'recovered' by Layard.
