Dorothy Susan Doughty was a British sculptor and potter born in Sanremo, Italy in 1892. She was the daughter of poet, writer, andtravelerCharles Montagu Doughty. She died in 1962.
She is mostly known for her collection of porcelain American birds. She modeled a series of thirty-six pairs and three individual models of American birds which were designed between
1933and 1960. They wereproduced by Royal Worcester, a British porcelain firm, under her supervision. In 1957 the Queen of England presented a pair of Parula Warblers to President Eisenhower. An entire series of her porcelain birds is exhibited at the Stark Museum of Art in Orange, Texas.
