Dottie A Unique Ooak Primitive Folk Art Witch & Moe Her Crow By Kathie Ruffner For Sale
DOTTIE AND MOE HER CROW ARE UNIQUE ONE OF A KIND CREATIONS AND THEY ARE SURE TO BRING A LITTLE MAGIC AND FUN TO YOUR Halloween FESTIVITIES.
Dottie is approximately 34 inches tall and about 12 " wide - she is a shelf sitter style witch and has poly pellets in her butt and sits firmly. Moe in his cage is about 6" tall and 5" wide, Dottie's green wrought iron chair is 19" tall and 9" wide.
Dottie is a paper clay over muslin creation, her facial features, hands and shoes are free sculpted with Creative Paperclay, that was gessoed, painted with artist acrylics and double sealed with a matte finish. Her leggings and polka dot socks were also gessoed, painted and sealed. Dottie's arms are lightly wired and can be posed in different positions.
Dottie has mohair wool hair that was needle felted and lightly glued to her head and is arranged with a loose bun in the back. This unique witch is costumed in new and vintage fabrics, her pantaloons are a pumpkin orange - her bodice and slip are a vintage ivory cotton embellished with bits of new and vintage lace, her ruffled skirt is a soft black fabric that drapes wonderfully. Dottie is further gussied with a great clock pendant on a chain around her neck and some dangling earrings. Her clothing is not removable - her jewelry is. Dottie's wonderful witches hat was created with paper that was antiqued and stiffened and is embellished with ribbons, pearls and tulle. I used a touch of some great orange ribbon on her hat and added more of the same around her ankles, I loved the subtle touch of orange that these accents gave her.
Moe, the crow was made by sculpting paperclay over an armature, he was also gessoed, painted and sealed, he even has a little orange polka dot bow tie - he is accented with a touch of black mohair and metal feet. His cage was painted with iron paint that was given a rust patina and then sealed.
Dottie and Moe were created and designed entirely by me, no patterns or molds were utilized. Unusual witches are what I love to create and Dottie and Moe were so much fun to make, thank you for taking the time to look at them and should you choose to offer on them, again thank you.
They will come to you most carefully packaged, signed and dated and ready to to make you smile.
I ask that these be paid for within three days of sale end please.
Sitting together Dottie and Moe make a wonderful display and look amazing on a mantle or buffet.
I take great pride and care in the creation and construction of my dolls, please know that you are getting the best that I can do and while my dolls are very sturdily made they are not suitable as a child's toy.
I was honored to have one of my witches grace the cover of the 2012 Autumn issue of ART DOLL QUARTERLY.
