Dr481, 1840’s Iridescent Silk Blue-green Ball Gownn For SaleIMPORTANT !!!!!!! PLEASE read entire Description & Instructions before offerding! FYI, Unless otherwise stated, all measurements are in Inches.
DR481, 1840’s Iridescent Silk Blue-Green Ball Gown: I was not sure what color to call this dress. It has shades of both blue and green in the iridescent silk fabric. The dress was created in the 1840's. The bust is 32, the waist is 23, the shoulders are 15.5. The skirt is on a very dropped waist and measures 37 inches long and it is 130 inches around the bottom. The dress is lined in a white cotton and it is entirely hand sewn. The waist is cartridge pleated. It has its original hooks, but is missing most of the eyes which were cotton threads. The dress has the following issues. There are heavy underarm stains. See photo. The ivory on the front bodice is worn through about midway down. See photo. It does have its original filigree buttons. I am not sure that the trim is original but it is beautiful. There is wear to the ivory silk collar and there is discoloration and stains on the skirt. It still makes a nice display. With soft museum lighting you wouldn't notice the issues so much. A period shawl would also help to camouFlage the flaws. It would be great for its design elements. The offerding will start at .99.
