Candlestick Park was located approx. 6miles south of San Francisco. It was built in1956, in an area that was named after a type of bird that populated the areafor a long time, which was named after a rock pinnacle in 1781, and in one ofthe few places left that could support a structure of that size plus parking.Most of the land came from a guy named Charles Harney, who made more than $18million dollars profit when adjusted for inflation, and he also got a no offercontract worth $121 million, adjusted, to build the stadium. The wholedeal was a subject of a grand jury investigation in 1958. 8 NFCChampionship games were held here. 2 World Series were held here,including the earthquake one. The Beatles gave their final full lengthconcert at Candlestick Park on August 29th, 1966, and Paul McCartney closed it out on August 14th, 2014. Candlestick Park demolition wascompleted on September 24th, 2015.
