Daum Nancy Enamelled Tumbler w. Leaves and Berries 1890-1914
This is a delicate and beautiful piece of Art Nouveau French art glass by the famous factory of Daum. The swirled mouth-blown body features shades of yellow and purple. The tumbler is further decorated with an overall design of enamelled leaves and berries in muted greens and yellow with clusters of yellow-red berries.
The Daum Factory was founded in 1878 by Jean Daum, an industrialist and lawyer. His sons and grandsons continued the business. It was their fin-de-siecle innovations in glass-making techniques that took the factory to the height of its artistic achievement, winning them a grand prize at the Paris Exposition of 1900. This lovely tumbler was created near the end of the 19th century at the height of Daum\'s artistic success. It would make a wonderful addition to any collection.
Marked: Signed "Daum,Nancy" in raised enamel for the factory and the city with the double cross for Lorraine extending down from the "D" and through the "N" (pictured).
Measures: 5" high x 1 3/4" wide at the base. .
Excellent condition: Thumbnail groove at the puntil break which is an innate part of the manufacture and not a flaw or fault. (pictured) Absolutely no chips, cracks, crazing or restoration.
