Dept 56 Oversized Hand Blown Mercury Glass Parrot or Tropical Bird ornament with hand painted color.


Measures: 8 1/2\" to the top of the head ( 9\" including curled glass hanger at top). (soda can used for size reference). Previously owned and displayed in a tropical room decor.


Use for the Christmas Holiday or year round in a tropical or kitchen setting.


I was able to document this same ornament via research (I photo copied), which was a series of Dept 56 oversized ornaments...there would have been a round paper label glued to the bottom of this one which is missing(example of this is shown in last photo ofanother one, sold a while back).

Also a tag(not included with this one) would read: \"One in a unique series of oversized handprinted Mercury Glass ornaments, handblown in the nineteenth century tradition\" (see copy of this in last photo).


This lovely ornament, was made in Taiwan, so it has some age to it.


Pre-owned condition. The paint has aged, but still bright and beautiful. It looks fine but was a little dusty. I took a soft cotton ball with only water and the red cleaned up nicely, however on the back green the paint started to thin, so I am leaving as found (see back photo # 5). Had I read about the hand-painted surface beforehand, duh... I would not have attempted to even dust :). Therefore please note that this can not be washed to preserve the beauty... unless you have a secret.


The gold string is very long as shown. Please expect random specks within the paint or rub marks from use over the years. The bottom is darkened in the making and not a flaw.


Photos are of the exact bird ornament/hanging.. you will receive. Please note (again) that the last photo are just copies of the Dept 56 details, I will add for provenance & your reference. No box!
