Also shown are Magistretti lounge chairs, Braun lighter, Aalto stacking stools, Braun coffee grinder, Marimekko textiles, paper items and cushions, Neiderer Swiss glassware and more. It shows slight cover and edge wear and is in fantastic condition. 7" x 7".The larger of the catalogs is chock full with pictures and details. This catalog is even better then the already great condition other one. 8" x9".The two logo matchbooks are unused and opened flat to store in the designers files. The glossy folded display piece has an unknown purpose though potentially used at a show or the like. It is peeling slightly at the top fold and it is a heavy gauge cardboard.See our other sales for a DR Marimekko and Maritextils lot.A note about our recent and current and near-future items: This is from the estate collection of a very accomplished, multiple patent awarded, industrial designer architect from Japan who worked for many very prominent companies and designers. The list is far too long to list in its entirety but a few well know ones include (very important patents noted but there were others filed individually and as an employee):
General Motors (as part of the styling division)
Royal Typewriters (patented Empress model)
Ontario's People Mover Train
numerous major airlines including Braniff and Aeroperu (full redesign of almost the entire company design Rand
Thonet (chair patent)
He had full membership in both JIDA (Japan Industrial Designers Association) and IDSA, consultant category (Industrial Design Society of America) and was well published and sought after as a speaker by many companies including Mitsubishi and Mazda. He was the Chairman of the Industrial Design School at Pratt Institute after being a long term instructor there.Later in life he was part of the team redesigning the Popemobile and was
developing a possibly ground breaking Russian engine motorcycle being
developed in the Philippines. He was interested in all things design and as such he collected a lot of material from the companies he worked for as well as other well know companies. Many of the items were not available to the public and almost all of them are rare.We will be offering a number of items from his collection as well as some original one of a kind works so check our sales regularly. These one of a kind items/packages are very exciting items and especially since together many of them paint the picture of development from start to finish including rough sketches (often literally on napkins) to blueprints and patent submissions. These are truly one of a kind items/packages and if you miss them then your regrets can not be abated as the new owners are unlikely to sell them again.
