Another beautiful lantern from the Dietz Family collection with a Cobalt Blue colored globe!
DIETZ VICTOR FLATFOUNT 1893
SQUARE TUBULAR LANTERN
with BLUE Fitzall Lob-Nob Globe
Contains several worn patent dates on the chimney with the last one at the bottom being May 28, 1893!
In excellent condition with no dents in the fount nor air tubes and the soldered joints are clean and intact. The amount of rust is fairly minimal, given its age, and all parts function properly.
The square air tubes do NOT contain the reinforcing beading found on models from the early 1900's...again, more evidence of its age!
The thumbwheel turns the wick freely in the Dietz burner that is covered by what appears to be a brass cone that is affixed with a hinge in the rear of the cone.
The flat surface fount is in perfect condition with no holes, cracks or dents....no obvious rust!
Both wire (yes, wire and not the sheet metal type from the 1900's models) lift guides held tight in place and function well allowing globe to lift smoothly.
Original 9/16th's inch filler hole and brass fuel cap. Original bail in good condition.
A rich Cobalt Blue Dietz Fitzall globe with no cracks…minimal roughness on rims and swirls in the glass, but no chips!
Globe carrier and guide wires work nicely and are in good condition.
The burner cone appears to be brass and is held in place by a fixed hinge on the back.
Rich milk chocolate aged-tin metallic bronze patina that has been oiled but no clear coating is evident.
Shipping cost includes insurance and delivery confirmation!
From our home to yours ….it’s time for this beauty to enhance someone else’s collection…sure to please!
I have several other vintage lanterns and an awesome Mission-style New Haven antique mantel clock!
