We are quite pleased to offer this museum worthy 1892 Elwood family sterling silver water pitcher.
Bearing beautiful period engraved family coat of arms and motto.
A dexter arm embowed in armour, brandishing a battle axe. Shield with forward facing stag's head. Motto translated with faith and diligence.
From the well regarded New York firm of Dominick and Haff.
In classic raised globe form.
Elegant feathered vine scroll decoration to base, inset shoulder and upper rim.
Beautifully hand decorated shell and raised floral streams, cascading toward base. United by shell tip vine scroll.
The neck of the pitcher with vine framed bead and diamond medallion. United by dual twin vine scroll stands.
Thick well diamond and floral engraved C-scroll handle.
This 1892 Elwood family pitcher is 9 inches handle to edge and 6 1/2 tall.
Exceptionally thick, heavy guage silver weighs 35 1/2 (standard) ounces.
Hallmarked as shown, well struck.
In excellent condition. Rich lusterous silver patina throughout. Stands firm on table. The hand chased shell and floral retain heir original detail.
