This beautiful, vintage, wooden puzzle box is signed by the artist, \"D. Rupard 1988.\" I bought it from the artist at a Renaissance Fair many decades ago and it\'s been on display ever since.This piece has four interlocking parts with a secret compartment, lined with black felt.
Measuring approximately 3 1/2\" x 3 1/2\" x 4\" on sides; standing ~ 2 1/2\" H. The wood is a lovely dark brown with rings visible on top and bottom. The sides, especially the back, have the naturally ribbed look of old trees that have sluffed their bark. Rupard is known for seeking out old wood to repurpose for his creations.Sorry to say I don\'t know what wood it is. It\'s hardwood; my best guess would be walnut.
