Welcome to the Fabric, Lace & Trims Department.
For dressmakers, renovaters, collectors and those with a creative heart!
This is the third guimpe panel I have offered on - I had no idea how useful they are!
Perfect for filling in the often damaged neckline and collar fronts of late Victorian gowns. and Edwardian, although I think this is likely to be late Victorian.
This piece is rather dramatic, with a large lace design, probably tape lace but with embroidered flowerheads.
The front panel is very deep, and will cover all means of damage! But it is also quite narrow and so not for wide gaps in the dress.
The lovely high collar is supported with wire, plus it has a bone to the back fastening to keep it upright. It is also unusually quite generous at the neck, the first two I sold had teeny neck widths!
A kind of natural pale stone/creamy colour, please do not expect white. It was never meant to be.
I cannot find any damage.
Neck width 16" amazing! Depth of front plastron below collar 15". Width of plastron at mid front 5.5".
Very grand and useful too!
Please do take a look in my shop if you have the time!
