Dresden 10.25" Augustus Rex 'autumn' Candelabra Base / Candlestick, Grapes, Goat:
A very attractive candelabra base modelled as male and female grape-picker figures, she accompanied by a goat who is about to eat the grapes on the vine she is holding, he playing a pipe and with a basket of grapes behind him. Depicts the celebration of the grape harvest and is emblematic of Autumn.
Approx. 10.25" high (26 cm).
Augustus Rex mark to base, as shown.
Condition is generally very good, but there is some damage. It is, of course, missing its branched upper section, but would work very well as a candlestick or just as a decorative figure group. Three of the leaves on the vine she holds are chipped, as are two leaves on the plant at her feet. There is a chip and a piece missing from the collar-like section below the sconce. The end of his pipe is missing. No cracks or repairs. Some rubbing to the gilding but the enamels are in good order.
I have the 'Winter' pair to this one listed separately as it is cheaper to send them overseas separately than together. Both can be sent within the UK only for £14 via Parcelforce Express 48.
The photo showing both candelabra bases is for illustrative purposes only.
