Dutch-1933- Silver Miniature Standing Clock By J. Postmus W. 18th.c. Clockwork :
Dutch Silver miniature standing clock with 18th.Century clockwork
Richly decorated with engravings of mills, boats and village scenes at the lower part and the pierced front door.
At the top we find a atlas figure flanked by two horn blowing (winged) angels and two casted putti figures, each holding a crown.
Postmus used old (scrap) clockworks of pocket watches to complete his masterpieces, this particular one with the signed dial by otto van Meurs (1714-1783) matchesvery well because van Meurs was also famous for his tall standing clocks (staande Horloges) of which this miniature is a representation.
The glass protecting the dial has probably also once been part of the old pocket watch and can open upwards. A pseudo swinging pendulum has been placed by the maker to complete the whole (behind the pierced door)
