Our latest Estate Sale Find: The WWI & WWII tunics & more of Hendrik Zander, Sr. of Den Helder, Holland ( The Netherlands).During WWI Mr. Zander was a corporal in the Royal Duch Army from 1916-1918. After his service in 1918 at the age of 27 he became a Captain in the DutchMerchant Marine aboard Dutch trading/cargo ships. In 1933 at the age of 42 he became the captain of Dutch passenger liners traveling between Holland and the Dutch West Indies, South America and the U.S. During WWII, Captain Zander received "The War Commemorative Cross" for his service in the Dutch Merchant Navy. He told family members that his ship wasn't hit but that he " watched many other ships blow up byGerman submarines". We bought his 3 WWI & WWII tunics,( all three tunics are heavy and very well made, the tan tunic has a some light staining & mothing and the darker tunics look to be in very nice condition),a 1941 dated address book, a hand painted picture of a Dutch or British Heavy Cruiser or Battleship?, a 11 1/2 " wooden night stick or Billy Club, that all were in a grouping of Captain Zander's effects (he died Dec., 23, 1973).Therse items had been passed downto family members until now. We all selling all (6) of Captain Zander's very interesting items or as a grouping, or inone lot at a low opening offer and .
