EARLY 1800S ETUI SEWING NECESSAIRE BOX ORNATE GILT METAL WEDGEWOOD CAMEO NR Search Description
This week we are offering some fine and rare items from a wonderful estate collection.
We are pleased to offer this rare and ornate early 19th Century sewing etui/necessaire. The box is very ornate with a thin faux ivory top, richly encrusted with gilt metal ornamentation. There is a small Wedgewood cameo set in the lid, with a ceherub riding a mythical horse in clouds. When opened the box reveals a yellow silk lining with a beveled mirror. There are 6 tools including a needle case, a mechanical pencil and a button hook....3 other tools I cannot identify. The tools are all carved ox bone. This is an exquisite set, in excellent condition. The box measures 3 1/2" X 5" X 1 1/2" high.
