Early 1880s High Wheel Bicycle Cased Tintype Photo 2 Cyclists & Bikes Photograph:
Rare and very beautiful, original early 1880's, Sixth Plate Tintype Photograph of two young men with their High Wheel Bicycles. This fantastic and very early, original Tintype Photo measures approx. 2 1/2” by 3 1/4” and is housed in one half of a significantly damaged gutta percha hard case.
This wonderful Tintype Photo pictures the two young and handsome men seated on the floor with their early High Wheel Bicycles leaning against each other behind them. The two men clasp their hands over their knees and each wear low crown, bowler type hats The Photo was taken in a Photographer's Studio (see the backdrop) and although the Image is not identified in any way, both the format and the High Wheel Bicycle pictured date the Photograph to the first half of the 1880's.
This rare and wonderful, early 1880's High Wheel Bicycle Tintype Photo is in good to very good, original condition. The Photo exhibits sharp focus, strong contrast and rich tonality but there are a number of shallow, horizontal creases to the substrate. One of these bends has caused some loss to the surface at the lower right hand corner of the Image. There are also some surface nicks as can be seen in the scans below. As states above, the Tintype is housed in one half of a significantly damaged thermoplastic case.
An exceptionally rare and wonderful, early 1880's Tintype Photograph of two young men and their High Wheel Bicycles and a fantastic addition to any collection!!!

Important Notes about Shipping Charges:
The amount quoted for Shipping & Handling is calculated by and is equal to the EXACT amount charged by the Post Office plus a $1.00 "packing fee" - the $1.00 fee is our only compensation for the virgin packing materials we use on all of our professionally packaged boxes as well as our cost for the salaried help that does most of our packing - as I am sure you can see, we make NO profit on the Shipping charges and, in fact, our costs are usually greater than the $1.00 fee. Please contact us if there are any issues regarding the cost of shipping.
